Dum Dum Motijheel College is a premier institution for higher education in the district of North Twenty Four Parganas. It is located at Motijheel Avenue on the Dum Dum Road, at the center of the large and growing town ship of Dum Dum, Kolkata. The college was established on August 28, 1950 and was formally opened by the Late Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee. Originally, it was a Men’s College at intermediate level having Science Arts and Commerce stream and affiliated to Calcutta University. The women section (Morning) was opened in 1953 in view of the large demand from women students because there were no facilities of college education in this area. The B.A. and B. Sc. Courses were started from 1957 – 58 Academic Session. The college has been accredited by NAAC (UGC) at B++ level in 2005. Presently this institute is affiliated to West Bengal State University.
